Scenario: A superintendent running a school district with a mostly Democratic school board in a Red state is asked to sign on to a lawsuit being waged by a prominent national advocacy group against a presidential executive order,
knowing that he and the district could be targeted by right-wing opponents and could open the district to retaliation from political leaders at state and federal levels. Should the superintendent approach the school board to ask it to sign on to the
suit, knowing board members will want his recommendation and that the board will designate him as the spokesperson on the matter?
