ÂÜÀòÍøSubmits Comments in Support of PSLF
May 07, 2025
This week, ÂÜÀòÍøsubmitted comments to the Department of Education (ED) in response to its announcement of intent to begin the negotiated rulemaking process to make changes to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program and other topics. ÂÜÀòÍøis a strong supporter of PSLF as a critical tool for educator recruitment and retention and urged ED to protect and expand the program.
Roughly 1.3 million teachers are repaying student loans, and nearly one-third still owe their entire balance. The cost of higher education creates a significant financial burden for educators whose average salaries are about 27% less than other college graduates.
Alleviating the financial burden of student loans—particularly through the PSLF program—is a proven strategy for keeping highly-qualified teachers in the classroom. We look forward to working with ED to optimize PSLF and ensure it’s easily accessible for all eligible educators. Read our full comments here.
