San Diego 鈥� Feb. 14, 2020 鈥� , is pleased to announce the honorees of the 2020 萝莉网Women in School Leadership Award.  

Today鈥檚 announcement was held at the organization鈥檚 2020 , held in San Diego, Calif., The award, sponsored by Horace Mann and AASA, pays tribute to the talent, creativity and vision of outstanding women educational administrators in the nation鈥檚 public schools.

The honorees in each category were as follows:  

• Superintendent Award:Susan Enfield, superintendent, Highline Public Schools, Burien, Wash.       

• Central Office/Principal Award: (for any female central-office or building-level leader): Shelly Reggiani, executive director, equity and instructional services, North Clackamas Schools, Milwaukie, Ore.  

• School-Based Award: (awarded to a female classroom teacher or school-based specialist): Lesley Bruinton, public relations coordinator, Tuscaloosa City Schools, Tuscaloosa, Ala.  

鈥淗orace Mann is proud to team up with the 萝莉网in sponsoring the Women in Leadership Award. This award complements the AASA鈥檚 effort to drive change in American education, and increase the number of women in leadership roles,鈥� said Marita Zuraitis, president and CEO of Horace Mann. 鈥淎t Horace Mann, we are committed to finding financial solutions for all educators and encouraging more women to aspire to become lead teachers, principals, administrators and superintendents, helping them with their career growth and their financial futures.鈥�

鈥淗onoring outstanding women in public education has been a longstanding tradition at AASA. I am so pleased to honor these individuals at our National Conference on Education,鈥� said Daniel A. Domenech, executive director of the AASA. 鈥淥ur program is designed to recognize the exceptional leadership of active, front-line female leaders who are making a positive difference in the lives of students every day. We are grateful to Horace Mann for supporting this program.鈥�     

The awards continue a longstanding tradition of AASA honoring exceptional female superintendents, district level administrators and principals whose talent, creativity and vision are exemplary. The applicants were measured against the following criteria:

Leadership for learning 鈥� creativity in successfully meeting the needs of students in the school system 
Communication 鈥� strength in both personal and organizational communication 
Professionalism 鈥� constant improvement of administrative knowledge and skills, while providing professional development opportunities and motivation to others on the education team 
Community involvement 鈥� active participation in local community activities and an understanding of regional, national and international issues
