Steve is Managing Partner of SFM Consulting Group, where he supports school districts and education organizations nationwide with leadership development, organizational coaching, resilience-based systems design, strategic planning, and executive search. A former superintendent of three metropolitan school districts—Green Bay (WI), Iowa City (IA), and Wausau (WI)—he led large-scale initiatives including $400 million in bond referenda, innovative STEM partnerships, and 1:1 digital learning rollouts. Steve has also served as a professor of educational leadership at the University of Iowa and continues to teach as an Adjunct Lecturer (Emeritus). He partners with national organizations such as AASA, Cognia, and PeopleBench to coach and develop education leaders across the country. An ICF-certified coach with multiple professional credentials, Steve is recognized for his work advancing equity, resilience, and leadership capacity in PK–12 education.
